“Helen was a part of our Dance Society for almost four full seasons. Helen came to us from England, armed with an impeccable array of formal qualifications. Helen began as a Dance Instructor, but her vast knowledge, her drive and her work ethic saw her become our Society’s Executive Director, ultimately responsible for the day to day running of our large community based Dance Society.
Under Helen, our children received the highest level of instruction, in all genres of dance. Our children’s performances were always competitive at Festivals and Competitions. Our children always performed extremely well at formal examinations.
But Helen’s main contribution to our children’s dance education was far more than simply the sum of each of the separate parts. My daughter has had the good fortune to be taught by a number of incredible teachers, and Helen was one of those teachers. My daughter received teaching at the highest level, but more than that, Helen was an intricate and important part of my child’s life for almost four years. It could hardly be otherwise. My daughter regularly spent 4 nights a week in Helen’s care. In addition to becoming an accomplished dancer, my daughter has grown into a strong, confident, caring, determined young teenager. Helen contributed to my child’s growth, by demanding the best from her, but in a way that always left my daughter feeling safe and supported. Helen could be, and was, firm when required. But it is her love for our children for which she is remembered by our girls.
When Helen left, there were tears cried for literally hours. There can be no better testimonial to what Helen meant to our children. While we are lucky to continue to have amazing teachers, Helen is still missed.”

“Miss Helen May-Jankowski was the principal dance teacher for our local studio, Peace Region Dance Society(PRDS), in Peace River, Alberta from September 2013 - June 2017. During those 4 years, 5 of my daughters were privileged to receive her professional instruction in the following dance genres - Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Modern, Contemporary, Acro and Hip Hop. In addition to the many group dances they were a part of in all these genres, she also beautifully choreographed a number of solos which my daughters were able to bring to festivals and competitions. They received numerous awards over the years as a result of these solos. Miss Helen was also recognized for her unique and creative choreography for many group dances over the years with PRDS. Her tremendous support and encouragement shown to my daughters over the years has greatly impacted their passion and love for dance. They grew quickly over those years in their technique and abilities as well.
Miss Helen is a dedicated teacher who loves her students and truly desires the best for them. She is well qualified and trained to teach all genres of dance and is a beautiful and talented dancer herself. We miss her a great deal but are thankful that she has the opportunity to use her gifts and skills with other dance students and fulfill her dream of owning her own studio. I would highly recommend May Dance for any student looking for well qualified and passionate dance education!”
