Dance Education for Everyone

We believe dance should be for everyone.

At May Dance, our regular programmed classes are inspiring, encouraging and informative. Your child’s learning, progression and development is extremely important to us.

We keep our classes small to work with our dancers individually. This helps to develop their technique and skills and to find out what their individual flair is.

What to expect:

classes

All recreational students (May Dance - B Team dancers), can attend as many classes as they like, in as many genres as they like! Dancers will learn technique and a dance (to perform at recital and the local competition) during their class time.

Performances

The next upcoming season (2020/2021) is our Competition/Recital season.

All B-Team dancers perform in our end of year recital with the dance/dances they have learnt in the corresponding classes. B-Team dancers will also attend one local dance competition at Blue Mountain in the Pre-Competitive category.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to perform more than once, regardless of whether they are selected for our A-Team.

Examinations

All dancers are taught set syllabus work during our examination season. All dancers will have the opportunity to take dance exams with internationally recognized dance syllabi’s.

At May Dance we follow the Imperial Society of the Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabus for Classical Ballet, Tap Dance, Modern Theatre, Jazz and National examinations. We follow Acro Dance Teachers of Association for Acro exams and UDO Street Dance for Hip Hop assessments.

*Dance Examinations are not mandatory, but are encouraged.
